The Jewish Cemetery at Hallettsville, Lavaca County, Texas, was probably established in 1890 upon burial of Carolina Schwartz Rice, born in 1864 and died 27 October 1890, the first grave according to tombstone inscriptions.
The cemetery is located on East Second Street east of town, in the northwest corner of the City/Catholic Cemetery. The cemetery is enclosed with a chain-link fence with gate on the east side. The arch over the gate reads: JEWISH CEMETERY. There is a gazebo in the northwest part of the cemetery and a cast-iron hand pump in the northeast corner. The cemetery contains several hedge plot borders and one cast iron fence among several trees including a giant cedar.
