Alvin E. Quitta Dies in Houston

Alvin E. Quitta, 38, died in Veterans Hospital in Houston Monday, September 25th, at 4:15 p.m. He was a farmer on Rt. 1, Hallettsville.

The deceased was born in Lavaca County, in the Vsetin Community on Oct. 31st, 1922, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Quitta, who preceded him in death. He had never married.

Funeral services were held from the Kubena Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27th with Rev. E. Lee Muehlbrad officiating. Interment was made in Geiger Cemetery.

Survivors include one brother, Joe Quitta of Hallettsville, seven sisters: Mrs. Wm. Jahn, Mrs. Paul Woytek, Mrs. Joe Rehak, Mrs. John Hlavac, Mrs. Willie Rother, Mrs. Albert Muhlstein of Hallettsville and Mrs. Ervin Kloesel of Schulenburg.

Pallbearers were William H. Jahn, Paulie Woytek, Herman Rother, Edwin Rother, and Leonard Rother.

Mrs. Rud. Quitta Funeral Rites Read Wed. Afternoon

Funeral services were held from the Kubena Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Rudolph Quitta of Route 1, Hallettsville with the Rev. F. J. Kostohryz officiating. Interment was in Geiger Cemetery.

Mrs. Quitta passed away at her home on February 1 at 11:45 p.m.

Born at Sublime July 16, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sicko, she was married to Rudolph Quitta on January 17, 1906 at Sublime where she spent most of her life.

Pall bearers were Elvin Woytek, Wilbert Jahn, Leonard Rother, Edwin Rother, Paulie Woytek, and Herbert Rother.

Mrs. Quitta is survived by her husband, Rud. Quitta, two sons, Alvin and Joe Quitta, both at home, seven daughters, Mrs. Willie Rother, Mrs. Joe Rehak, Mrs. Paul Woytek, Mrs. William Jahn, Mrs. John Hlavac, all of Hallettsville, Mrs. Erwin Klesel and Mrs. Albert Muhlstein, both of Schulenburg, three sisters, Mrs. Otto Sanders, Waco, Mrs. Emil Raabe of Weimar, Mrs. Aug. Ritley of Houston, one half sister, Mrs. Albert Tesch of Rosenberg; two brothers, John Sicko of Morales, Oscar Sicko of Sublime, one half brother, Charles Meyer of Sublime, 27 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

SCHULENBURG PILOT KILLED IN ACTION

Schulenburg, July 8. — Mrs. Earline Parma Quitta of this city received a telegram from the War Department Friday informing her that her husband, Lt. James Quitta was killed in action over Italy on June 22. Lieutenant Quitta was a bomber pilot. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Quitta of Hallettsville.

Rites Tomorrow for Mrs. Braun’s Brother

Military re-interment rites for Lt. James Quitta, brother of Mrs. B Braun Jr., of Weimar, will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9:15 o’clock in Hallettsville, with interment in a Hallettsville cemetery.

Lt Quitta lost his life June 22, 1944 when his B-44 bomber crashed into the sea between Corsica and Italy. He ordered his crew members to jump before him, but was unable to effect his own escape. He was buried on the island of Corsica. His body was scheduled to arrive at Hallettsville at 6:15 o’clock Thursday morning.

In addition to his sister here, Lt Quitta is survived by his parents and one brother, Bobby Quitta of Hallettsville.

Rud. Jos. Quitta Dies Jan. 29th

Rudolph Joseph Quitta, 87, of Hallettsville, died at the home of William Jahn, where he resided, Friday, Jan 29th, at 11:15 p.m.

Funeral services were held at the Kubena Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31st. Interment was in the Geiger Cemetery, Rev. J. J. Kostohryz officiated.

Pallbearers were Marvin Woytek, Paulie Woytek, Alfred Huber, Jr., Wm. Henry Jahn, Edwin Rother and Leonard Rother.

The deceased was born in Austria, Europe, April 14, 1872, coming to the United States many years ago. On January 17, 1900, he married Miss Annie Sicko at Sublime, and they lived in this area together until her death on Feb. 1, 1954. During his active life he made his living from the land, also doing some ranching.

Surviving are two sons: Alvin and Joe Quitta both of Hallettsville; seven daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Tillie) Rother, Mrs. Joe (Sophie) Rehak, Mrs. Paul (Selma) Woytek, Mrs. Wm. (Agnes) Jahn, Mrs. Johnnie (Elvia) Hlavac, and Mrs. Albert (Lydia) Muhlstein, all of Hallettsville, and Mrs. Erwin Kloesel of Schulenburg; one half-brother Otto Quitta of Bryan; one sister, Mrs. Alice Sieber of Hallettsville; a half-sister, Mrs. Ernest Budewig of Alief; 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
